Robert Jain: How To Cut Costs This Valentine's Day

By Jason McDonald

Have you been doing your Valentine's Day shopping? Perhaps you've been running into money-related problems, which makes sense if you're looking to go all out. Just because you're trying to keep costs low, though, doesn't necessarily mean that the quality of your gifts has to take a hit. In fact, for those that wish to cut costs this Valentine's Day, all the while showing that special someone that you care, here is some advice from Robert Jain.

One of the ways to save money on Valentine's Day gifts, according to names like Bob Jain, is by being creative. Yes, you can spend up to $50 on a box of fancy chocolates, but this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to. Instead, focus on what your loved one enjoys. Use this information as inspiration to create a gift that they will see the true value in. Crafting materials don't have to cost much, either, if you know where to shop.

Let's say that you want to continue to shop for more traditional presents, including flowers and chocolate. If so, you would be wise to go online and see what kinds of deals retailers are offering. These businesses know that shoppers will be active on Valentine's Day, so they will entice said shoppers with discounts and specific percentages off. You may not find these opportunities at physical retail stores, so take advantage of them when you can.

To reduce Valentine's Day expenses further, cook a meal at home. There are many couples that enjoy going to fancy restaurants on this day, but this may not be the best idea if your goal is to save money. Instead, decide on a meal that both you and your significant other will enjoy. Complement it with a dessert to wrap things up. A meal made from the heart holds value; it doesn't hurt that it is oftentimes less expensive in the long run, too.

These are just a few ways that you can save money on Valentine's Day this year, but don't let this endeavor stress you out. After all, it's meant to be a day to celebrate with your significant other. Even if the two of you decide to stay home and watch a movie, it will still have meaning. Nonetheless, if you'd like to go above and beyond, at least to some degree, you now have a few ideas that you can put into action.
