Having A Mouse For A Pet At Home

By Richard Morgan

It may sound a little odd and weird but there are actually people out there that do not choose the usual animals to take care of as pets. Some would go have tarantulas, snakes and other dangerous wild life creatures. But, there also are those that chooses to have mouses in their homes even though other people treat those creatures as pest. For those people who actually are thinking of having them as pet, it is important that they know how to properly have them taken care of because just like dogs, they have different classification and types and raising these would differ. Start of with a place they would consider as home, Mouse vivarium San Diego are available with so many choices and design that owners could prefer.

These cage like stuff are designed to have av temperature every type of mouse would be comfortable to be in. Its scent is also something that ease them to stay on such place rather than irritating them. It can be quite artistic and have a built in food and water area where mouse could readily go to when hungry but this cages will only be suitable for mature enough mice.

Baby mice are not capable of eating on their own just yet so putting them directly to a cage will just have them dead. To help them survive on that stage, they will need to be provided with liquid nourishment. So, just like puppies and kittens, they will be fed with milk. As an owner, be sure to not give them a milk mixture that came from cows.

Since new born mice have not opened their eyes yet, the best way to feed them is through a dropper or a syringe. Put the mixture inside the said vials and gently pump it straight to the mouth of that tiny little thing. Feeding them should be done every two hours until they can already open their own eyes.

If owners are feeding them, avoid trying to force them into taking everything all at once. Give them ample of time to swallow the first mixture that was pumped before having to pump again so that they would not choke on the process. Give the mice the amount of milk it wants, if it looks like its still hungry the continue feeding it, when it looks like it had enough then do not force it with them.

However when they can have their eyes open, it is the right time to give them solid foods. It will be up to the owner if they will mix it still with liquid nourishment but its okay not to. Some of the foods that are suitable for mice are kitten, hamster and baby human food mixtures. They could as well have some soft cook veggies like squash.

One fact that every mouse owner should remember, when mice are still baby they have no ability to urinate on their own. When they are with their mother, their mothers will lick them so it can do such thing. However, when their mothers are no longer with them, the only way to make them pee is for their owner to stimulate them to doing so. Every after feeding them, dip a cotton ball in a warm water then move it to their genitals gently until they are able to pee.

To make sure that the pet is healthy and will not acquire any diseases because there is a possibility that they could transmit it to human. Though, the rate of such cases are not that high, still it will be better to take cautions. Make sure to have oneself protected by having a habit of washing hands when touching it, not allowing it to go near food for people and removing the ticks on them.

Mouse are one of those creatures that are created wise. They need their brain to move and stimulate so it will be best to put toys around their cage, something they can chew on. It would be appropriate to have a mouse wheel too.
