For this kind of issue, there are a few techniques to foreign accent reduction NYC that one may apply.

The very first technique that one can try would be to try to emulate the way the locals speak while trying to learn the language. Of course, this can only be done through constantly speaking to the locals until one is able to know how to speak like them. This just simply takes a lot of practice and effort.

Another thing that one should do is to simply speak slowly. When one is still learning the language it is essential for him to speak slowly and break down each word so that the people may understand him. As he becomes better at the accents, he can then gradually speak faster and faster.

Another very important technique to use would be to always learn how to correctly say the last sound of every word of the foreign language. It is very important to always correctly state the end of each word because that is what people usually listen to. Since most languages put emphasis on the last part of the words, one must concentrate learning that part.

Another interesting way to learn accents is to listen to local songs. This is really fun because one can learn of a really cool song and also learn the accent of the locals. One should always try to sing the song either by himself or in a group. By doing this for a long period of time, one will be able to grasp the way locals speak.

Another technique would be to try to impersonate a local by talking in his or her voice. Pay attention to the way he or she speaks and try to copy any unique characteristics in his or her intonation. Doing this long enough will help one be able to successfully copy how a local speaks.

Lastly, watch videos of impersonators or even locals during free time. One of the best impersonators is stand up comedian Russell Peters who can successfully copy the Cantonese, Indian, British, and African American accents. Try to watch him from time to time in order to understand how to copy accents well. Check out some other videos as well and try to copy them.

Using these techniques, one will be able to slowly reduce his foreign tone and blend in with the locals. Now, if one is really having a hard time, then he may actually enroll in a class. The teachers will show the students how to properly speak the local language and how to get the local accent.
