Thai massage is one of the oldest types of healing and it originates from Buddha over two thousand five hundred years ago. This type of message was introduced to Thailand by an Indian doctor and it was known as Ancient Massage. This type of message was thought to be an ancient art of therapy for the body, which was good for health, transformation and healing.

Thai massage has been carried out for centuries by south eastern monks. This forms part of Thai medicine. In oriental culture illness is believed to an imbalance in the body, spirit and body. This style of massage is based on using invisible lines of energy that are in the body.

These invisible lines are called Prana Nadis and they are thought to supply us with vital energy. Life energy is absorbed with the air that we breathe and also with the food that we eat. Disturbances to the flow of energy will result in an insufficient amount being supplied to the invisible lines which then leads to sickness.

This art of massage work on the ten energy lines and the acupressure points which are on them. Thai massage works on the invisible lines and it clears blockages which have built up in the body so it stimulates the flow of energy and restores health in the body.

Interactive manipulation of this massage focuses on two of main procedures. The therapist needs to apply gentle pressure to the feet and hands and this will make use of the energy lines. Thai massage will make use of a stretching movements to manipulate the body into a range of postures.

These movements will help to align the energy within the body. The traditional form of Thai massage differs greatly from the traditional style of massage which involves kneading the muscles and using strokes of various lengths in order to calm and relax the body. The Thai style of massage works more on the energy within the body rather than the physical body and it makes use of gentle pressure and vigorous movements.

There is a number of benefits of Thai massage and the biggest benefit is the unique way it energizes the body at the same time as relaxing it. This type of massage is often referred to as Thai yoga due to the assisted stretching.
