How The Community Church In Lake Almanor Was Established

By Iva Cannon

Throughout America, numerous churches add "community'' to their names. Churches like towns either grow or shrink. A number of churches are not capable of supporting themselves independently so merging with other churches is the best option. When the merge occurs, they have to come up with a new name.

The churches usually agree that the new name will not reflect the past history of either group. The new group is naturally called Community Church in Lake Almanor since it is the only church left in the area. Majority of the time, churches like this are in quest for unity. Some practical or doctrinal point that may cause contention with the other group is usually compromised.

For this reason, many churches have less defined beliefs as well as allow different beliefs. As much as possible, these churches avoid possible division often resulting from detailed doctrinal views and pay attention on what is essential such as their personal faith in the Lord. In some instances, losing ties with a body is not preferred by new bodies due to administrative purposes such as the amount of pastors. Still, such bodies later on become entirely independent bodies and are supported entirely by the general public they serve.

These denominations are also formed when changes in denominations or local churches happen. Numerous of the pioneer denominations were formed by numerous groups that send out preachers and missionary pastors. The beliefs of these denominations are changed based on the influence new theological trends have on them or when they merge with other denominations.

On the contrary, country churches are often less updated in terms of the current trends. Still, more time is spent in group as well as personal Bible studies. For this reason, country churches are often more old-fashioned in terms of their doctrine compared to the bodies they are representing.

When the local churches are affected by these differences, majority withdraw from the group and become independent community churches. The reason behind this is that they believe they are obeying the command and holding the traditions being taught. Newly independent churches and individual churches were formed by associations to find support and fellowship.

In the past years, the name community church has been applied to churches which did not want to be identified with any specific group. Just like the groups they want to avoid, these independent churches vary. They may be contemporary or old-fashioned, ecumenical or isolationist or charismatic or traditional.Although some of these churches practice or hold doctrines that are unbiblical, there is nothing unscriptural about them.

If you are planning to attend one, you have to personally check the beliefs as well as practices of such bodies. This is due to the fact that it is vital that you know where they stand. Most of these bodies located in Chester, CA make their doctrinal statements known in their offices or on their websites. No matter what the body's name is, you have to realize that each of these bodies have beliefs as well as practices that define them. As a believer, you have to make sure that you are considering a body that obeys all things.
