Sun Tan Spray Fights The Danger Of Deadly Sunlight

By Haywood Hunter

The sun gives off ultraviolet rays, UV rays, that can be quite harmful to people. Sun tan spray can actually help prevent any damage. This lotion gets rubbed into the skin and has been used since the middle 1900's. It helps keep people from getting burnt by the sun. Sunscreen or sun block comes in different types such as lotion, gel, or spray. This product is, especially for those who are outside during midday when the sun is shining.

These must not be confused with another kind of product, suntan oil. Whereas sunblock protects the skin by reflecting and filtering dangerous rays to minimize damage, the oils actually magnifies the impact or the sun's heat. This is to assist the person using it in obtaining a deep and fast tan. When you want to spend a summer's day on the beach, make sure you buy the right product.

Sunblock is a very necessary product for anyone who will be exposed to the sun for a relatively long time. It is essential that the sunblock goes along and that it gets used when you spend a day at the beach. Sunblock also have another use. They sometimes serve as part of the arsenal of someone who has a light skin and wants to protect it. Light skins gets damaged very easily by the sun.

Whether you choose a small tube or spray on version of the cream, it is necessary to spread it evenly over all exposed skin. A generous blob in the palm of your hand should be sufficient to cover an adult body.

Often people will say suntan spray should be re-applied every two to three hours. Some researchers have found that applying it fifteen to 30 minutes before going outside into bright sunlight, and then re-applying fifteen to thirteen minutes after exposure started, offers the best protection. After swimming or sweating it must be re-applied again. There are products on the market that resist water and perspiration.

Babies should not really need suntan lotion because they should not even be exposed to direct sunlight for a longer amount of time. Adults have been taught about the dangerous rays. If the child will be outside for long, a physician should be consulted to see what is safe for the baby. Babies many times will break out in rashes from any skin care products because of their sensitive skin.

Older children love to have fun at the pool or seaside on a hot, summer day. It is vitally important that their young bodies get maximum protection. SPF 30 provides protection for most of the day. For example if you get sun burn in 10 minutes, SPF 30 will protect you for 300 minutes. If you use SPF 15, you will be protected from the sun for 150 minutes.

Keep in mind that the rays can cause skin cancer. Medical organizations such as the American Cancer Society recommend the use of sunscreen because it prevents the squamous cell carcinoma and the basal cell carcinoma. Also keep in mind that water can dilute or wash off some sunscreen products. If swimming is involved, keep the sun tan cream handy and re-apply when necessary.
