Many Markets Benefit From A Ford Mustang Right Hand Drive Conversion

By Karyn Shields

Not all markets offer the same vehicles for car lovers to enjoy. The Ford Mustang right hand drive conversion needs to be done very carefully. It is a long and tedious procedure as there are five different panels that need to be removed. All of the original welding spots will need to be removed and then replaced with panels specifically made for right hand drives.

The manufacturer is planning on brining out this new design in the first half of 2015 and all of these will be made in their Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan. The plant is 270 000 metres square and has about one thousand and seven hundred employees. Its name has changed over the years from MCC in 1972 - 1981, to Mazda Motor Manufacturing USA from 1987 - 1992, Auto Alliance International from 1992 - 2012 and is now the Ford Motor Company.

The second generation came out in 1974 to 1978. This was a more fuel proficient car and was based on the Ford Pinto. It started out as a two door sedan but a year later added a wagon and hatchback model. In the ten years of production there were over three million sold and out produced the AMC Gremlin and Chevrolet Vega.

They had over three thousand employees at the time and these included about two hundred and fifty Japanese workers as well. Ford then bought a fifty percent share and as it became a joint venture the name was changed to Auto Alliance International. The Mazda's 626s were sold and later the Ford Contour and Mercury Cougar were bought out.

The interior check of the steering column and the dashboard is a good place to start. Ensure that all the passenger airbags, glove box door, centre console and instrument faces are fitted. The dashboard will need to have been fitted properly and the steering wheel must be in line with the centre of the driver's seat. The adjustable column for the steering wheel must be able to adjust easily.

The car came out on the first of April in 1970 and was considered a very good buy. It was available as a two seated with a back window that was unable to move down. This was sold for $1 879.00 and the four seat hatchback for $1 959.00, with opening back windows.

Has the steering column as well as the brake been swapped and are they well fitted, neat and correct. In the interior check that the foot pedals are of the same height and evenly spaced and is the rest pedal correctly installed. If an electric chair has been installed are all the switches on the correct side and easily accessible as well as in good working order.

The Ford Mustang right hand conversion once completed must be the mirror image of the original look. Each and every component must be exactly to the original design and engineering. All changes need to be carried out in accordance with the National Code of Practice.
