Revisiting The Natural Roots With A Kayak

By Sandra Hughes

Early man either lived in caves or was nomadic. Eventually, man discovered that the world around it could be shaped into sufficient shelter. But with that shelter came a loss of connection to the natural world. But man can reconnect with the natural, can reconnect with is primal instinct, but to do so with a modern twist. For those that do, there is a wide selection of Hobie kayaks ready to take the modern caveman back in time in style.

Human society was once nomadic, and also they were hunter gatherers. That left completely at the mercy of the whims of nature. People also used to respect the planet. They did not pollute water or blow up mountains. It used to be that people took what they needed and left well enough alone.

Somewhere along the line, people became agricultural. No longer nomadic, people settled on plots of land and cultivated crops on it. The settled lifestyle along with the steady food source led to a population boom and it helped shaped society as it is known today. But by doing so, humankind broke off from the natural order and created one of its own making.

But there are those who respect the old way, who still connect to the natural world or wish to connect with it. Some people want to escape modern society, the get some respite from the constant turn and burn of the modern era. Some people like to go camping, to without the conveniences of the current era. There are those who go hiking, who exercise their bodies whilst being surrounded by nature.

Ancient civilizations were built on the banks of rivers. When humans first settled into agricultural societies, rivers provided a source of drinking water, and also water for the crops that needed to be grown. Rivers continue to be a source of many recreational activities even in the modern era.

Speaking of outdoor sports, there are many companies out there that make the gear to safely enjoy nature. A good number of those companies are going to have kayaks available. In fact, those companies will have multiple kayaks for various activities and at different price points. Choose the one the best suits the budget and activity in mind.

Whitewater kayaking is an outdoor sport in which a person goes kayaking down a whitewater river. It is supposed to be a fun activity, one that involved a lot of adrenaline. But, it is also dangerous. White water only appears white because it is moving so fast.

A more relaxing is fishing. Now, most recreational fishing is done on the shore. Commercial fishing is done in the deepwater, in a specially designed boat. But a kayak can also be used for fishing, provided the fisherman does not stray too far from shore.

Humans are fascinated by and terrified of the outdoors. But with the right gear, even the great outdoors can be tamed. All it takes is a bit of gumption.
